State of Tennessee  
Hardiman County        
Article of agreement between R W Biggs of the first part and Jefferson Parham, Lucy Gibson & family and Martha Pegram & family of Freedmen of the Second part.

The Said R W Biggs agrees to furnish the above named Freedmen with [[strikethrough]]forty[[/strikethrough]]thirty two acres of land, all the farming implements necessary for cultivating the land, such to plant the same to furnish one mule or two if needed and its feed
To find the above named freedmen with meal and Flour and Such big stables as may be [[?]] on the place by them & They agree  pay him out of the crops or its proceeds for what Meat they may use, and the Said Biggs agrees to allow them one third of what Corn Cotton Potatoes &c they may raise during the present year
The above named freedmen agree labour faithfully for the Said Biggs the present year in any respect appertaining to the cultivating and gathering of the crop they raise the present year. They furthermore agree to do the Said Biggs and family's cooking, washing, getting firewood &c &c  to furnish one Plow horse and its feed
