State of Tennessee Hardeman County
Dec. 25th 1865

Article of agreement made and entered into this day, between H.W. Duncan of the first part and "Darcas" & Eliza" New, and others," of the second part," The said "Duncan" agrees to give the above named girls" fifty dollars, and furnish them the necessary clothing, for our years work (1866) And we the above named "girls" promis [[promise]] to do the above said "Duncan" good and faithfull work, for the year above stated, All so [[Also]] Fill, & his wife agrees to work for the said Duncan," for the year above mentioned," for the fifth part of the crop,” (Said Duncan" putting in the girls above named) 

Fill & his wife are to clothe themselves and pay their Dr Bills" Said Duncan is to furnish them meat and bread, and garden vegetables such we can or do raise, And should Fill," buy a horse, he" is to work him in the crop, And said Duncan is to give satisfaction for the same. Darcas & Eliza, & the other girls are to pay, their", Dr. "Bills.
