December 30th day 1856
Mark and wife promise to work with me twelve months under my control and direction and lose no time with out permit from me under the penalty of one dollar for Each and Every day to last and to bring no live stock on my premises with out my leaf and to attend to business and to keep Every thing in its proper place and meddle with nothing with out permission and not to use any saucey or in sulting language and also not use profane language such as Cursing and Swearing under the [[strikethrough]] penalty of fifty Cents for Each and every offense so committed [[/strikethrough]] and I promise him land what he can tend and how [[hoe]] and tools and fend the horse and fend them meet and Bread suficient to make a crop on and give them half that they make.
