Know all Men by These Presents, THAT I E G Coleman of the county of Hardeman, State of Tennessee, is held and firmly bound to the United States of America in the sum of one third of the cotton, corn & fodder dollars, for the payment of which I bind my heirs, executors and administrators, firmly, by these presents in this
CONTRACT: That I am to furnish the persons, whose names are subjoined, (freed laborers), Quarters, Fuel, substantial and healthy Rations, [[strikethrough]] all necessary Medical Attendance and Supplies in case of sickness [[/strikethrough]], and the amount set opposite their respective names per month, during the continuation of this Contract- the laborers to be paid in full before the final disposal of the crop which is to be raised by them on farm Known as the Williams plantation, in the County of Hardeman, State of Tennessee.

The Conditions of the above obligations are as follows - Willis is to receive one third of his [[strikethrough]] his [[/strikethrough]] distributive share of the crop of cotton corn & fodder raised by him and the hands [[strikethrough]] and [[/strikethrough]] engaged in raising a crop with him Sarah is to receive [[strikethrough]] sixty fifty [[/strikethrough]] fifty dollars per year for her services - and is to do house work such as - spinning weaving washing sewing cooking and any other work about the house that is necessary - and that she may be ordered to do - and be subject to my orders and obey me & my wife Willis is to feed horses - cut wood make fires black boots & hand attend about the house when not engaged on the farm

This contract is to commence with this date and close with the year 1866.
