Know all Men by These Presents, THAT I E G Coleman of the county of Hardeman, State of Tennessee, is held and firmly bound to the United States of America in the sum of one third of the cotton, corn & fodder raised by them [[strikethrough]] dollars [[/strikethrough]], for the payment of which I bind my heirs, executors and administrators, firmly, by these presents in this
CONTRACT: That I am to furnish the persons, whose names are subjoined, (freed laborers), Quarters, Fuel, substantial and healthy Rations, [[strikethrough]] all necessary Medical Attendance and Supplies [[/strikethrough]] all necessary attention in case of sickness, and the amount set opposite their respective names per month, during the continuation of this Contract- the laborers to be paid in full before the final disposal of the crop which is to be raised by them on farm Known as the Williams plantation, in the County of Hardeman, State of Tennessee.

For the purpose of arriving at a more perfect under standing the above parties have agreed upon the following Conditions the party of the first part agrees to furnish the customary rations of the county to all the above parties who work in the field furnish teams and forage to feed teams - the parties of the second part agrees to furnish four hands (to wit) himself Martha Sarah & Bob and make them work faithfully get up early - Martha [[strikethrough]] is to assist [[/strikethrough]] & Sarah are to assist in Milkings the cows - and have their meals readdy in good time

This contract is to commence with this date and close with the year 1866.
