The following Agreement entered into in and for the county of Hardeman state of Tennessee for the year 1866. Between James A. Rose of the first part & Miles Beard, Aith Wilkerson and Melvina Wilkerson (all colored) of the second part.

The said James A. Rose agrees to furnish the said Miles Beard & Aith Wilkerson with land & team & feed for team, for the purpose of making a crop of corn & cotton, and further agrees to furnish the said Miles Beard & Aith Wilkerson with bread & meat for the year 1866 on conditions to Wit. That the said Miles Beard & Aith Wilkerson is to pay to the said James A Rose full valueation for the above said meat & bread out of their portion of the crop.  Which said portion is specified below in this agreement, and the said James A Rose agrees to allow the said Aith Wilkerson one half of every saturday for washing & other purposes.

The said Miles Beard & Aith Wilkerson agrees to clothe themselves, to pay their Doctors Bill, to pay to the said James A Rose full valuation for their bread & meat out of their portion of the crop, to work faithfully, to cultivate the crop well, to be humble & polite to the said James A Rose & his family, to be subject to the said James A Rose's orders in all things pertaining to the farm & lief of absence. where it does not interfear with the crop; in all cases of sickness, to supply a hand in their place if to be had, to take good care of the team & farming tools, to gather the crop as soon after it is made as possible & in good condition as the nature of the case will admit.  For which services the said James A Rose agrees to give them one half of the cotton,
