State of Tennessee
Hardeman County | Articles of agreement between John
Bryant of the first part, and Isaac Pankey, Jerry Panky,
Calvin Pankey, Caroline Pankey, Elen Pankey, Frank Pankey
John Pankey, Hanah Pankey, of the second part, the said
John Bryant furnishes land, sufficient quantity of land
for said hands to cultivate, and teem, and farming
tools, and feed for teem, and sufficient quantity of provisions
for said hands, the named hands of the 2nd part agree to
cultivate said land well, take good care of stocks & tools
and return said stock in good order, also to pay a fare
price for the above provisions furnished, out of the
proceeds of the present crop. The crop to be housed in
good order; the cotton to be delivered at gin. The crop
to be equally divided according to quality and quantity.
Both parties agree that the land that is cleared by said hands
is to be subject to the hands own use, for two years, including present year. Witness our hands at office
