Article of Agreement V.S.
D F Elliott 1st part & Wiley Lane 2nd Part
[indent] For and in consideration of
One Hundred & Fifty Dollars & 1 suit of
common clothing. Wiley Lane [illegible] is to do faithful
work during the while of the year 1866 for
DF Elliott. Said Wiley is to be --
obedient & respectfull & ever read to do
all reasonable work required of him
about the House and on the Farm
He is to pay his own Doctors Bill &
furnish his own clothing after the suit
specified in this contract is given him
and in case said Wiley should be sick
over a reasonable space of time during
the year, a deduction must be made
to equal the time lost
[indent] And it is further
Agread that in case this contract
is not fully complied with thus
Wages must be forfeited to satisfy all
Parties concerned.
