Articles of agreement made and entered into between G.W. Hardin of the county of Hardeman & State of Tenessee of the one part & Jack Hamlin his wife Amanda of the other part 
Witnesseth: The said Hamlin agrees on his part to furnish Said Jack & Amanda with land to cultivate horses, Peas and to throw in all his farming tools, also to furnish cabins to live in and five horses to farm and give Said Jack & Amanda one half of all the crop which they shall make for the year 1866
The Said Jack & Amanda agree to furnish or pay G.W. Hardin the market price for their meat & Bread pay their own Dr’s bill and attend to all the usual and necessary rules of a farmer. Such as getting wood feeding Stock and milling 
The Said Jack is to feed the horses and pay Special attention to them during the plowing season January 3rd 1866
