Know all men by These Presents
I, Thompson Allen have beargained with Hal Johnson colored for the hire of his two sons viz [[strikethrough]] James [[/strikethrough]] & Finley minor for the year 1866 I am to pay Hal Johnson Two hundred Dollars for each one making Four hundred Dollars for both of their hire for this year I am to furnish them with one winter & two summer suits of clothes 1 pr socks 1 [[strikethrough]] Blanket [[/strikethrough]] Hal Johnson is to furnish them with shoes & to pay for making up their clothing [[strikethrough]] The above named [[/strikethrough]] and pay their Doctors bill and I, T Allen are to feed & furnish cabins for quarters for them. The said boys viz [[strikethrough]] James & [[/strikethrough]] Finley are to work under my direction & feed & attend to stock & do all work on my plantation as I may direct & not to leave without my permission. and for a failure or neglect or disobediance they are to be fined or punished according to Regulations of the Freedmans' department.
