Articles of contract and agreement for the year 1866 between J. J. Polk of the 1st part and Issac Bowers and wife and Frank Peters and wife James and Henry Polk (2 Boys) of the 2nd part the said J. J. Polk agrees to furnish said parties of the 2nd part fifteen acres of land each on his farm to cultivate in cotton and corn.  Also to furnish them with Plow Stock Given all necessary tools to make a crop with waggons and oxen for the use of the farm houses and food for the use of such hands and give them one half of the crop also to furnish them feed and provisions at the customary prices of the neighborhood and retain a Lean on said crop until all expences are paid Said hands to work under the supervision and direction of said J. J. Polk or his agent said parties of the 2nd part agree on their part to keep said farm in good repair do all necessary hauling. Milling, cutting and hauling of wood rails and hauling to and from the R. Road and to take of care of and feed all the stock on said farm field themselves and are to be no expense to the said Polk for clothing medical bills medicine or any thing else the said Polk to see that they have medical aide when necessary all adults that remain on said farm and do not make regular hands in the crop shall pay a tax of $2.00 pr month for the use of house and fire wood said hands are to be orderly and respectful to the said Polk and family or agent no
