State of Tennessee   January 1st 1866
Madison County 

This contract or agreement made between Thomas N Buchanan an the one part - Edmund Dunaway Freemen on the other part is mutually to the performance of that is herein expressed. Viz: That I T.N. Buchanan agree to furnish Land all the farming utensils necessary for the cultivation of same a good and effective team with sufficient forage for same Wagon and Harness and pay all Wood and Iron shop account,

On the other part said Edmund Dunaway agrees to furnish the services of his wife Rebecca as a cook for the entire white and black families and all other leisure time to be employed in spining or other household service, Himself and two Daughters, viz Maria and Creasy aged 14 and 15 years to be employed on the farm but when labor cannot be advantageously employed in making or preparing for crop they are to be engaged in any other labor necessary to be done; Subject at all times to the direction and submissive to the order of employer, Edmund furthermore agrees to furnish his own family with meat sufficient for the year and all of their Clothing 

For such services I bind myself to pay to said Edmund one sixth part of all the Corn and Cotton raised on the farm Other products of farm to belong exclusively to Employer. All loss of time to be charged and deducted in final settlement.
