RESIDENT ASSOCIATE PROGRAM

December 7, 1987

Prof. Jacob Lawrence
4316 37th Avenue, Northeast
Seattle, Washington 98105

Dear Prof. Lawrence:

On behalf of the Smithsnian Resident Program, I am delighted that you will participate in our seminar on the subject of creativity on April 16, 1988 from 10:00 a.m. to 5:45 p.m. in the auditorium of the Hirshhorn Museum and Sculpture Garden.

Enclosed, along with a schedule for the day listing all of the seminar participants, are some queries composed by moderator Wilton Dillon that you might like to consider as you contemplate your brief (10-15 minutes) symposium presentation. The symposium session is from 11:30 a.m. to 1:00 p.m.; and the open panel discussion in which you will also participate is from 2:30 to 4:30 p.m. All seminar participants are invited to be guests of the Resident Associate Program for lunch, 1:00 to 2:30 p.m.

I've been informed that you might wish to use slides in your symposium presentation. You may indicate your audio/visual requirements to us by completing and returning the enclosed a/v form. Additionally, we would appreciate your mailing us your curriculum vitae for use in an introduction.

Edmund Worthy, Associate Director of the Resident Associate Program, recently spoke with you about your logistical and financial arrangements for the April 16 seminar and for an April 17 lecture. Under separate cover, he is sending you a confirmation of these details, plus an agreement for your signature.

I look forward to your presentation and to meeting you. Our office will be in touch again as the date draws near; but, should you have any questions about the seminar in the meantime, please do not hesitate to telephone me at (202) 357-3138.

Sincerely yours,
Nancy P Rosnow
