SMITHSONIAN INSTITUTION
WASHINGTON, D.C. 20560

January 18, 1979

Mrs. Sally M. Avery
Milton Avery Trust
300 Central Park West
New York, NY 10024

Dear Mrs. Avery:

For the fifth consecutive year, the Smithsonian Institution will publish a desk engagement calendar illustrated with works from museums within the Institution. We work in conjunction with Universe Books, a New York publishing house known for its high quality calendars, and we will offer the calendar through our Mail Order Catalogue and Museum Shops. It will also be available from booksellers and other quality stores across the country.

The subject for the 1980 calendar will be children. We would like to include Mr. Avery's work "Girl and Dog," now in the Hirshhorn Museum and Sculpture Garden. If this meets with your approval, we will send you a supply of ten calendars when they are ready in the fall. Additional copies will be available to you at a discount of 30%.

Please let me know if you have questions or if I may be of assistance to you in any way.

I look forward to hearing from you soon.

Sincerely,
Ann McC. Miller
