SMITHSONIAN INSTITUTION
NATIONAL COLLECTION OF FINE ARTS
WASHINGTON 25, D.C.

January 29, 1957

Mr. and Mrs. Laurence Fleischman
19480 Burlington Drive
Detroit 3, Michigan

Dear Mr. and Mrs. Fleischman:

The exhibition of "JOHN MARIN PAINTINGS" has just been dispersed by the Manhattan Storage Company in New York and we hope that your loan has been returned to you in satisfactory condition.

May we ask that you sign the enclosed receipt form and return one copy for our files just as soon as possible. Insurance will be in effect until all receipts are in our hands.

The MARIN paintings received much publicity while on view at the Arts Council Gallery in London and the enclosed will give you a resume of the reviews.

We would like to take this opportunity to thank you on behalf of both the Smithsonian Institution and the United States Information Agency, for all your help in making this exhibition possible. It is this kind of cooperation which fosters friendships and interest abroad.

Again, many thanks.

Sincerely yours,
Gladys E. Acton
