Dear Mr. Fleischman:

May I say, first, how very happy we are that you will lend forty contemporary paintings from your collection to the Smithsonian for a limited museum tour. We are most grateful to you and Mrs. Fleischman and we wish to assure you that we shall take every possible precaution to safeguard your loans.

The enclosed sheet lists museums where your paintings might be shown. We know all of them, personally, and their directors are old friends of ours. Therefore, we might give these museums first choice, approaching them one by one. We hope you approve of this procedure.

We look forward to receiving the list of loans as well as photographs from your office and thank you in advance.

We appreciate your cooperation more than we can say.

Very sincerely yours,
A. P.
