Dear Mrs. Pope: i am delighted to hear that you are planning an exhibition of the work of [[underlined]] Elihu Vedder [[/underlined]]. This is an opportunity for a reappraisal of an extremely interesting and a little-understood artist. The exhibition should have a wide appeal and have a great effect. The person who has done more to revive interest Vedder and who has written a fascinating biography, from which I have learned a great deal, is [[underlined]] Regina Soria [[/underlined]], of [[underlined]] Baltimore [[/underlined]]. It was she who put Mr. Fleischman and Mr. Love in touch with the Italian owners of the work they now have in their collections. She has also written some articles which I have been glad to publish in [[underlined]] The Art Quarterly [[/underlined]]. I think she is the person who should select the exhibition and write the catalogue. She knows more than anyone else about Vedder. Also it would be very unfair for me, or someone else, to profit by her discoveries and take the credit from her. I feel very strongly about this, much as I myself enjoy Vedder and would enjoy working on such an exhibition. Mrs. Soria's address is 1609 Ramblewood Road, Baltimore 12. Sincerely, [[signature]] EPRichardson E. P. Richardson Director EPR:s Cc Mr. Lawrence Fleischman THE HENRY FRANCIS DU POINT WINTERTHUR MUSEUM. WINTERTHUR, DELAWARE. U.S.A.TEL.302 OL 6-8591
