Mr. David W. Scott
Director of the National Collection
of Fine Arts
Smithsonian Institution
Washington 25, D.C.

Dear Mr. Scott:

Thank you for your letter of January 22nd in which you asked us to participate, with the inclusion of our Davis painting "Television", in the coming Stuart Davis Memorial Exhibition from May 25th through December 5th of this year.

We shall be happy to lend the picture for this major exhibition. Under separate cover, I have mailed you a glossy black and white photograph of Television; and am enclosing, with this letter, the filled out and signed permission form.

We also received the letter of request from Mr. Lloyd Goodrich of the Whitney Museum in New York, one of the institutions where the exhibition will be shown on tour, that you referred to. I am writing him today, too, to inform him that our decision is in the affirmative.

With every good wish to you,

Cordially yours,

Lawrence A. Fleischman
