Mobile, Ala, drawn in your favor for sixty-five dollars, the same being the amount of your salary for the month of March, 1867. Please forward a receipt to this office upon its arrival. Dear Sir: Enclosed please find Draft on United States Depository drawn in your favor for thirty dollars, the same being the amount due you for rent of school house used by Freedmen for the Month of Feby, March & April, 1867. I send Draft as it is believed you can get it cashed at a cheaper rate than to sell it here, and then pay Exchanges. The delay in making this payment was caused from an unwillingness on the part of the Disbursing Officer to pay rent or any debt in advance. If, hereafter, you are unwilling to receive your rent in [[margin]] 38 [[/margin]] 55 the last month in each quarter, as in this instance, please inform me and I will pay it at the close of each month. I desire to accommodate myself, so far as possible to your wishes. Please send receipt. Respectfully, Supt. Education. Montgomery Ala. April 5th 1867. Forsyth Mr. Robert A. Girard, Ala. Sir: Enclosed please find Draft on United States Depository, Mobile Ala, drawn in your favor for thirty-seven dollars and fifty cents, the same being the am't. of rent due you for school house used by Freedmen for the months of February, March and April. I send Draft as it is believed that you can get it cashed at a cheaper rate than to sell it here, and then pay Express charges. The delay in making this payment was caused by the unwillingness on the part of the Disbursing Officer to make payment before due. If, hereafter, you are unwilling to receive your pay in the last month of each quarter as in this instance, please inform me, and I will send your pay at the end of each month.
