Sir your letter of the 21st inst to to Major Genl Meade and by him referred to Genl Hayden Asst Comis is received.
If you are acting under proper authority as County Supt of Schools, you do not need any farther Authority to appoint Township Trustees, who can act until the 2nd Monday in May 1868 when there must be an election held in each Township under supervision of Judges of Probate.
Should any Township fail to hold such Election, the Township Trustees must be reappointed. See Par 577.582 revised code of Ala.
