All business of Educational Department will be done through Office Sub Asst Com and Opelika Sub Dist has not had its full share of the fund heretofor   Invite all teachers to report through your office. Make a strong Report make applications for special assistance and in future you may secure your share of fund 
There are several places in your Sub District which should sustain a good school, of the building is provided.
Encourage your freedmen to organize and sustain schools where possible
These people can do much more than they they think they can and they can make no better investment than in Education

Please find enclosed vouchers favor Mrs. Merriwether which require her signature and your certificate. The fund is exhausted but I will endeavor to have it paid.
Col Beecher informs me that the draft of $90.00 sent from this office to Mr. Vossetti Aug 14th 1867 had not at last accounts been presented at Mobile for payment As soon as he can learn that it is still unpaid he will duplicate it and Mr Vossetti can receive his pay.
