Please return answers to following questions which may facilitate settlement of your claim. Did you come into the work under auspices of any associations and is if so what association. Have you every reported your school to any Bureau Offices At what time in 1867 did you enter the work. We have heard a good report and will do all we can to assist you. Commissioner at Florence gratifying in every respect. Your society has done its work more thoroughly than any other society in this State and deserves the full confidence of the Govt and the public. We would gladly have done many things for you by way of repairs &c but recd orders from Washington expressly forbid return transportation under any circumstances whatever. We hope to welcome you back in October and will do all in our power to encourage your society in 77 continuing its good work among these needy ignorant people. Very Respectfully Your H.W. Cor Secty Am Bible Society Dear Brother The generous donation of your society shipped May 1 1868 per Sts Flag came yesterday and already three different Sab. Schools have requested Testaments. Were they not so extremely destitute I would insist on their paying for them wholly or in part but think it is not the wish of the donors that any freedmen who can read shall be without the Bible because he cannot pay for it. How many families will rejoice in the Light of the Gospel through your liberality Thanking you in behalf of these freed people I remain Truly Yours HM Bush Act Supt Education
