darling desires, the freedmen were aroused to quite a pitch of ardor and enthusiasm.  I have no doubt that in every place where one of these meetings was held, a measure of prejudice against colored schools was removed, and that henceforth the employment of teacher in such schools will be looked upon as less disreputable, thus making it more easy to engage competent persons in the work.
The colored people of Talladega deserve much praise for their zeal in educating their children, and for their energy displayed in erecting a large school house.  During the summer vacation, they design to improve this house by adding partitions to make classrooms, and fit it for the employment of three teachers when the schools is re-opened in September.  Three teachers have been engaged for this school from the Cleveland Aid Commission, to commence their labors in the fall.  The school now in operation under the charge of Mrs. Hopson has been very successful; and has been so conducted as to bring to her support the co-operation
