(Mary Atwater) member of the Church with which he is connected, and a graduate of Oberlin College volunteered last summer to go South, and teach among the freedmen. States that some money was raised by a Christian Missionary Association, but not enough to defray her expenses and it was hoped that the Bureau would do something in case she taught in the range of any of its agents  States that she has for some months been teaching at Benton Lowndes Co. Ala. Desires Gen'l Howard to do something for her if it be in his power to do so (Filed) |
