Dr Sr,
I have been held in suspence for the past three months as regards the amount due me by the Bureau for services as teacher and would really wish to know whether I am to be paid or not. You have sent and ordered me to sign vouchers twice for the amount, and stated three months ago that you had applied to Washington for transportation which I have not received, and I wish you to give me an explanation of the matter for I do not wish to be held any longer in suspence.

I have been rongly treated by the Bureau. I came to the field of labor with the expectation that my transportation would be refunded, but was disappointed. I taught a Freedmans school for six months, but have only received three months pay. I think I should be paid in full to the time you notified me of the suspending of salaries and from intelligence received from you at that time I thought there would be no trouble in obtaining it. I have several times since written to you, but you appear to disregard me and have accused me of annoying you unnecessarily. I hope Sir, you will do me the favor of replying to this, as I am discouraged in writing, believing that it is the intention of the Bureau officers to defraud me of my just dues.

Yours &c
M.B. Badger
