I have the honor to return herewith Check No 1139 on U.S. Depository, Mobile Ala, favor R. R. Vasser, for fifty (50) Dollars, which was sent to this office Oct 8" 1867 by the Supt. of Education for Ala, to pay Mr R R Vasser for services rendered as Teacher of a Freedmens School for month of July 1867.
Mr Vasser cannot be found in this section. He is said to have started for Pensacola, early last fall, but has been reported, since, as dead.
It being evident that he has gone from the vicinity, I return the check to you, the receipt whereof, please acknowledge and oblige.
