Commissioner. &c Montgomery Ala [[stamp]] THE NATIONAL ARCHIVES OF THE UNITED STATES [[/stamp]] General I have the honor to forward two communications from U J. Crumpton in behalf of Mrs. G. E. Butler who kept a school for freedmen at Pleasant Hill, Ala. from May 7th to July 7th 1867, and has never received any compensation for her services as teacher. At the time mentioned teacher's received salaries from the Bureau. and I would respectfully recommend that two months salary be paid to Mrs Butler, if funds are on hand for such purposes I am General Very Respectfully Your obt servant James Curtis Capt. 15 Infy Bvt Maj USA.
