Dear Sir,

I feel called upon to intercede on behalf of Mrs G. E. Butler - a Widow with an orphan daughter to educate by her own exertions, Who tought a freedman school faithfully, zealously & did her part in all respects. Kept up a Sunday school during the term, that the working freedmen might get the benefit & some of them progressed well. Her schools was kept up with full number of pupils for two months, when it was suggested by the Bureau agt that she had better discontinue
