General:

I have the honor to transmit Vouchers for payment of rent of schoolhouse at Pleasant Hill, Ala. for April 1868. These vouchers were forwarded to Mr. Bayley by my predecessor and I had no knowledge of them. It appears that they were missent for they did no reach Mr. Bayley until July 7th although sent from here May 7th.

I forwarded yesterday a communication from Mr. Bayley asking for assistance with the recommendation that the schoolhouse be rented at $15 per month, but as he declares himself satisfied with $10 per mo., I will, if authorized, take up the Building on my Report of Persons and Articles hired for July, for the 4 months from April 1st to July 31st and send vouchers for May, June and July to Mr. Bayley for his signature.

I am, General
over.
