R. D. Harper
Supt Education

I have the pleasure of again addressing you on the subject of Education. I have made several several trip over this county looking after the educational interests and paying particular attention to the coloured class. I find a good disposition shown on the part of the white people towards the coloured schools and a fine disposition on the part of the coloured people to avail themselves of the benefit of the public school laws.

In nearly all the township, where I have schools they have but temporary use of school rooms. I have selected the best locations in each Township for more permanent schools and the coloured men have all agreed to subscribe a number of days each to hew the logs and build the houses

The farmers finding it more easily to procure labor when there are good school facilities
