Having had a conversation with Maj Shorkly I wish you to consider of my statements & requests and see if they should be granted.  I was employed by Mr. Buckly in May as a teacher for the Freedmen (having come from the North for that purpose) at $65.00 per month I thought for a year or till I wished to be discharged. in July the schools were ordered to be closed and not having been teaching six months I was not allowed transportation and consequently had to lay by at my own expense which was between $33 and $40.
