Dr. R.D. Harper

Dear Sir
About two months since I made out and forwarded to you Vouchers for Mr. E.S. Grover for services as teacher of Colored school at Calhoun in this State last year. He is greatly in need of the money and desires that it be paid as soon as possible. Will you please inform me if it will be paid and if so how soon? he is indebted to me, and says he cannot liquidate the debt until he receives that money. I am sure he performed the services as stated in the Vouchers, and that he is a very worthy man. He is now in charge of the Colored schools at this place, but as the Freedmen are mostly very poor his support is meager.

Very Respectfully
Your Obdt Servt
John. A. Hart.
