Larkinsville Ala. Dec 21st 1868.

Agent of Freedmen's Bureau
At Montgomery Alabama

Dear Sir, Sometime sinc I received a circular from you desireing my co-operation with the Bureau in its benevolent purpose of supplying Teachers, School Houses &c. for the poor Freedmen.

When I received your circular I was lying very low with Billious Fever and could not attend to it. The circular was laid away with other Documents & has not been seen till a day or two since. I can say to you that your kind aid in the manner proposed is very much needed here. I will procure some statistics for you very soon. I will ascertain where in my county the Freedmen need your assistance in referance to the items named in the circular and report to you as soon as possible. I have encountered much difficulty in reorganizing the Township Trustees of my county. There is very much prejudice existing here in relation to providing for the education of the Freedmen. I will write more soon.

I am very respectfully your obedient Servt
