Mr. R.D. Harper
Sup't of Education
B.R.F. & A.L.

Sir: A circular from you dated Oct 19th has been received and contents noted; and in reply would like to ascertain in what way I will have to proceed to procure aid from your Bureau to build a School house for the purpose of teaching a Colored School.- I am using every effort in my power to establish Schools for the freedmen; but they are as a general rule too poor to assist themselves in this respect and if I can procure a little aid for them then they can easily make up a school. They are willing to work and build a house, if they could get money enough to buy nails, flooring and doors shutters - a log cabin will do them, and can be built in a few days. I am very anxious to establish Schools for them, and they are very anxious to have them.

As regards a teacher for them I do not know whether they will be able to procure one here or not, but I will inform you
