Office Sub-Asst. Com'r Bu. R.F. & A.L. Huntsville Ala. December 21st 1868. Br. Lieut. Col. Edwin Beecher, U.S.V. Asst. Commissioner, Bu.R.F & A.L. Montgomery, Ala. Colonel, In compliance with a communication, dated "State of Alabama, Bureau Refugees, Freedmen and Abandoned Lands, Office Supt. of Education, Montgomery, Ala. December 16th, 1868", I have the honor to transmit herewith special report of schools, as per instructions. The school at this place has not as yet commenced, but I have rented the building formerly occupied by the Bureau, as a Freedmens Hosp'l. and owned by Mrs. Margaret E Patterson, for school purposes, at $30.00 per month, and expect the principal, Miss M.
