To the Freedmen's Bureau

The undersigned citizens of Lee county of the State of Alabama respectfully represent that the wants and necessities of the freedmen of Auburn of said county are improved and their common good requires the establishment in said town a school house and a church.

There are in said town a population of several hundred inhabitants and among them are unusually large populations of children.  Further represent that the said freedmen are anxious to patronize a school and give to their children a practical education and we represent that we believe that a school will be sustained and supported.
