Bureau R.F. and A L
Talladega Ala Oct 14th, 68

H. M. Bush
Supt of School Buildings
Montgomery Ala.

Sir
In compliance with your verbal instructions, I visited Columbiana on Monday the 12th inst and I found that the colored people of that place with Miss E. S. Thompson the teacher had commenced the frame of the building for a School house, and had done all that they could for want of Lumber Nails &c &c
The sills for the building are laid 40 x 21 feet
In compliance with your instructions, I have made out a bill of Lumber, and ordered it sent, which will have to be transported on the Rail Road and I would respectfully request that I may be furnished with Bills of Lading for one car load of Lumber from Clayborough Mills to Columbiana.
Miss Thompson has commenced a school at Columbiana in her house, but the room is not large enough to hold her pupils; there will be from ninety to one hundred and her pupils attend this school as soon
