Dear Sir:
Your favor of the 1st is received. It would afford us the greatest pleasure to comply with your request, but unhappily we have gone to the extent of our ability, and even beyond our ability in the support of teachers. We have however numerous applications from ladies well qualified for the work, whom we could send to your relief, if we had the means of supporting them. We have not.
