If there is to be a scarcity of teachers he might be allowed to go to Troy, a place of less importance. In that case would transportation be allowed him?
I would like very much to consult with you concerning school matters in this Sub-District. May not the importance of it justify me in requesting to be ordered to Montgomery for the purpose? Perhaps you, Sir, can bring it about. 
Hoping to do all that can be done for the educational interests of the freedpeople of this Sub-Dist. as well as to serve them to my utmost in all their other needs.
