Dear Sir:
I am just in receipt of a letter from Mr. Cravath Sec. A.M.A: Cincinnati and regret very much to learn that he will be utterly unable to supply Eufaula with Teachers the coming year. He writes that the aid of the Association must be confined to Montgomery, Talladega, Selma & Marion.

When I wrote to the Association in Aug. Genl. Ruger was in Command & Asst. Commr. and it being understood here that all Civilian Agents would be at once discharged I inquired if, in that case, I could resume teaching again under the direction of the A.M.A. and also if in any event, the Association would send at least two teachers to Eufaula.

Mr. Cravath asks if I am not Agent if I can go at once to Montgomery and take charge of the school there to telegraph my reply. If I wasn't in the Bureau & bound to
