Sub Dist of Demopolis
Demopolis Ala Dec 9th 68

Supt of Education
Bureau R.F. & A.L.
Montgomery Ala

Sir
I have the honor to transmit herewith the monthly Report of Schools of this Sub Dist for the month of November 1868: also the following special report in relation thereto.

In October when it was manifest that the state school machinery would not get into working order, so as to be of any benefit the present season, I commenced organizing schools: Since then I have got three schools into successful operation: each with thirty or more scholars and a teacher who has the certificate of the County Superintendent of schools and one with but 22 scholars, but for satisfactory reasons admitted.

I have about 12 more in process of organization

School No 1 Demopolis is kept in a very temporary building erected by the Confederate government.
