Mr. W.A. Tulcott has forwarded to me, a communication from you in [[strikethrough]] reply [[/strikethrough]] regard to his & my brother's plan for Education of Freedmen.

I know that your counsel, &, if possible, your administration was a very prominent point in their plans, & I hope that you will do what you can for them.

I do not know how fully they may be committed to the location in N. Orleans. At the outset certainly the only desire was to work where the most best good work could be done. If they should transfer their plan to Montgomery, it would be on account
