to Suspend my School early in June. I [[strikethrough]] am [[/strikethrough]] was glad to hear this, but was disappointed in not having help & Companionship, as my health is somewhat impaired from the use of bad water, excessive labor, and very lonely too, have not been spoken to (but once) in weeks by a white person.

The morning the troops left about to be Capt Taylor, to know what I had better do, he advised me to leave immediately, as there would be no protection for me, as soon as the citizens heard of this, two among the most prominent, came to see me, & assured me that I would be protected, approved of my course, & encouraged me to go on in the good work which they said I had been so faithful, I felt stimulated from such words of kindness from Christian Citizens.

I hope to hear from you soon in answer to mine of some days since,
Yrs Truly C.W. Hopson
