Supt Education &c

Dear Sir
Your favor of the 8th Inst recd contents noted. I think a school for colored children might be opened in our village There will be twenty of thirty perhaps more that will attend. The negroes are interested to some extent but are not able yet to pay tuition. There is a house and teacher that can be had provided the salary specified can be secured My children are educating those I have in my yard and I hear of others that are pursuing the same course.
Any assistance I can give you will be freely rendered .
Respectfully Yours &c
