Dear Sir:

In accordance with your suggestion, we have delayed the departure of Mr Branch and his assistants. They will leave here on the 2d of October, and reach Mobile in season to open the schools on the 10th or as soon thereafter as the building shall be ready.

Our neighbors of the N.W.F.A.C. after debating for two months whether it would be possible to go on without the Methodists who were the main stay last year, have pluckily determined to try. They have borrowed money to pay a few of the more pressing debts and to put a few teachers in the field. They have asked me to give them Mr Branch back, and with him, Mobile. Mr Band I have compared notes and think it hardly wise. He has had too sore an experience of an empty treasury for the last six months to be willing to contract for more of the same sort; & as they frankly confess that their effort is to be but a desperate struggle.
