for life, which will hardly last longer than twelve months at farthest, we think it would be intrusting a large interest to very uncertain care.

Moreover, as the Secretary of the NWF A.C. and in deference to the highest interests of the work then urgent, I persuaded the Secretaries of the A.M.A.C. to abandon the Missi Valley for two full years, and diverted to the Treasury of the NWF A.C., more than $50.000 of money that would naturally have gone to the A.M.A. This arrangement was a most magnanimous concession on the part of the A.M.A., and the Directors of the NWF A.C. instructed me to pledge to the A.M.A. a reversionary claim to all the assets, good will, and territory of the NWF A.C. when it should leave the field. 

The case seems so clear, that neither Mr Branch, nor myself, feels authorized to revoke engagements with parties interested, and Mr Branch may, therefore, be depended on to fulfill the expectations heretofore authorized
