Dear Sir- Yours of the 5th & 6th Feb: have come before me since my return from the East. Application has been made to Captain Howard for an order for transportation for Eight (8) boxes of stores to be forwarded to you as soon as the order is recd.
I have read both of your letters with special interest particularly the one with reference to Educational efforts among the Freedmen. With you I feel that what the colored man wants first and above all things else is Justice. Secure this to him and his own hands will bring him and his a support - & the occupation of our societies would be gone.
