Cooperation of all the good & virtuous.

Now Sir, Can you do so? if so, I will see to it that all shall go well.
How far our people would go towards a school taught by an utter Stranger (a white person) I am at a loss to say. I am sure that much prejudice & ill feeling would be aroused by the introduction of a "School Marm", and for the present would not advise it by any means. The school taught by a negro known to the community will meet with encouragement rather than otherwise. I would therefore, suggest that you take our Teacher under your charge. He can come properly recommended, and will answer all the purposes for a year or two. As he is himself studdying very hard he may yet become learned himself.
So far as the wants of this Community are concerned, they can for the present all be fully met in this way. If you should agree with me on this subject, I will see to it that he will come to see you (if necessary) & make with you all needful arrangements. I have conversed with some of our prominent citizens who concur with me in this view of the subject.
Hoping to hear from you again on the subject,
I am truly,
Your obdt. sevt.
A.R. Worthy
