My dear friend, I hardly know what to say to you, for I dont know that you have received my communications. I have sent you two letters to which I need a reply. Presuming you have not received the letters I will lay before you our plan. We my brother Ralph Emerson & myself propose to agree to furnish $2500.00 per year for some of you to establish a high school at which the more advanced colored people can be fitted for teachers
What is intended is to support the school until it will support itself We want your opinion in detail of the project. the proper city in which to locate it &c &c New Orleans is in our minds & one feel that to be the place best suited for such a school. We want your views of the matter.
