In talking with Capt. Gardner, it was proposed to dedicate our new house.
Can you not come, and address them? - bring Gen. Swayne with you, and give these colored people a feast at the dedication of their own house, which they will always remember?
You can come on the train which reaches Greenville at 6 45 P.M. My landlady I know will give you a wholesome supper, and, if you can endure a bed at the hotel, you can return early, provided your business will not permit you to stay longer. If we could offer you a comfortable house while here I should urge this visit, with all the "stick" of Col. Sewell. Come if you can endure Greenville, and if your duties will allow it. - The time I promise will be in from ten days to two weeks.
We still appreciate your invitation to visit M-, but work has kept us from being homesick, contrary to your expectations.
Mrs. Adams wishes to be kindly remembered, Yours,
C. H. Adams
